The real answer to your question is Yes, Selvedge is better quality than a standard pair of Levi’s but not all Selvedge is the same and a lot of it is not worth the markup. He said Levi's. After that they recommend washing as early as 3 months or 60 wears. I was always under the impression to wear them as long as you can before the first wash, but I think their rationale is to wash them so the dirt and debris does not break down the fabric.Remember though for sherpa jackets they tend to need to be a bit bigger due to the lining plus the idea that you'll mostly be wearing this in the cold so probably layering and therefore want a bigger fit. I think a medium with that in mind would be too small.
